Seabird research

I’m currently (2024 - 2027) undertaking a PhD project with Cardiff University on seabirds in the North Atlantic, after developing a collaboration with some brilliant researchers in the Faroe Islands between 2021 and 2023. Seabirds are one of the most threatened groups of birds in the World, and so understanding how they interact with developments in the marine environment is critical. My PhD is focussed on expanding our understanding of one such seabird, the European Storm-petrel, from its largest known population in the World in the Faroe Islands. Nature Podcast

Will and Ben the Wildlife Men is a wildlife podcast that began during 2020 with my very good friend and amazing naturalist, Will Hawkes (who’s also from North Wales!). We came together to tell stories from the natural world that we find fascinating, and which believe should be heard by a much wider audience. From hitchhiking flies that cling to migrating dragonflies, to the glacial origins of Mountain Avens flowers in the UK; we feature all manner of species and stories, and have recently started series two of the piece, after a two-year hiatus.
